Verizon to Introduce Tiered Pricing in 4 to 6 Months
My prediction (because predictions are like armpits?)
So something like (aircards)
5gb 3g/4g= $30
25gb 3g/4g= $50
(Remember, this still won't be a "primary" internet)
Per GB overage rate of something less than $10/GB
For 3g I don't see it really changing that much, with the possible exception of them making a lower tier smartphone plan. (Remember the BGR rumor about 3gMM phones going the way of the dodo, this would fit in nicely)
So maybe: $15/mo for 500mb/1gb?
If they do put a "cap" on 3g, I don't see it being lower than 5gb
but I ...
(continues)
If I had to guess I'd say it'd be more like:
250 MB - $15/mo | 1 GB - $30/mo | 5 GB - $60/mo | 10 GB - $100/mo
What I wanna see is data that can be shared across multiple devices, not just phones. Of course, we'll be waiting on these devices to come out still...
So I don't see 4g being signifigantly more expensive for the same bandwidth. It might have a higher buy in (maybe 60 is the start) but I don't think it will only be for 5gb.
I'm also looking foreward to "bucket" data plans
Even a jump from the 200mb/2gb/~.25 per MB (tethering package) to, say, 500mb/5gb/$10 per GB would seem a bit more reasonable.
I have a hard time believing anyone on an iPhone could possibly use 200mb or less what with the random phantom update issues and all the other features it has to offer that don't ask for, but demand, large chunks of data. So in a way it's forcing people under a cap to stop the "data hogs" and then forcing people into thinking there is a choice, but pretty much telling you that you have only 1, and you better watch your ass if you're a mid-scale user.
but that would be mean 🤣
More than likely, they're customers like my dad. My dad has a Droid, LOVES it, and only really uses it for Pandora and GPS navigation.
