******THE REAL REASON THE T809 WAS DROPPED!!!**********

I think this phone was discontinued because You can flash the t809 to the original version of the phone and use it the way it was ment to be used. I think tmobile got wind of people flashing there t809's to the d820 and getting alot of funtionality that the t809 lacked for free and they didn't like it ๐Ÿคจ .

Here's a short list of the benifits of flashing to the D820 which is the real version of the t809:

* Mp3 as ringtone support (no renaming needed)
* No Ascending ringer
* Vibrate and ring simultaneously
* Email client
* Change soft key functions
* Install non-signed java applications ie; opera mini, google maps etc.
* Unlock the phone (use on any carrier)

As you can see there are many benifits that address most of the issues...

bluetooth connection

I have a Samsung t809 and I pair it to a Parrot CK3100 car device. My previous Motorola phones had no issues, in that every time I started my car, the phone and the Parrot would synch automatically. But with this t809, I have to go into settings each time and search for devices to connect to the Parrot. Is there a setting to have this happen automatically?
You may have to set the Parrot as a trusted device. If that doesn't work, try doing a soft reset on the phone.

Unlocked from Tmobile, Use on Cingular

I have a T809 that I had personally unlocked it from T-Mobile, and now I use it on Cingular.

I went through all the steps of making the internet, and the MMS on the Cingular network by typing in the *# numbers.

Now the problem still remains is, none of my programs will connect to any network, besides the internet and my picture messaging. I was wondering if there was a way, like I changed the network preference for the internet and MMS, to change the network prefences for AIM and my GMAIL programs by the *# numbers.

Can anyone help?

saving sent messages in outbox?

hi just wondering if anyone knows how to save sent messages in the sentbox. i cant find the setting to save em. any help would be great. thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™‚
Hi, I bought this phone and am having the same problem as you in regards to the sent messages not saving in the outbox nor sentbox.

Have you been able to find a solution for this?

Thanks!
you have to wait until it says 'message sent', if you slide the phone down before that message, it will not save to your sentbox

Just a couple ?'s for the users

Hi all...Im looking to get a new phone in about 2 months and im startin to look now...if i stay w/ tmobile im going with either the T809 or the MDA...depending on price and if i really want a windows based phone....

What i want to know is

1) hows the speakerphone during calls? loud?

2) hows the RF? i currently have the Samsung E105 and get about 3 maybe 4 bars outta 5...will this be compareable..i cant sacrafice service and when i had the Moto V300 i didnt like the service in my house

3) Has anyone used Opera Mini?
if so how does it work w/ the T809 & Edge...

o and one more thing...is edge available on LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK (Specifically Commack, NY)

Thanks to all who answer

NICK
1. great, i can hold leave it at my desk and walk across the room and have a good convo.

2. depends where you live, phx, az has good service and i get it pretty much anywhere..

3. no.. never heard of it?
First and foremost I jsut gotta say this phone is BOMB!!...

the speakerphone is fantastic, very clear, loud and doesnt distort...

the signal on it is awesome too, havent had any problems w/ it whatsoever..
Sorry if this is too late...
I am trading the MDA for a Samsung. The MDA has a horrible battery life and many mobile users complain about an eco and a tunnel affect (i dont hear either). I like the ring (sounds like a payphone) and the web browser ...

3. Opera mini will NOT work on the T809 as T-Mobile has disabled this, amongst other things. The only way (as of now) to be able to add applications to the phone is to flash your phone with D820 firmware. Then opera mini works just fine ๐Ÿ˜‰

Watching full Hollywood movies on your T809

Hi folks. I've spent quite a few hours this weekend using trial-and-error in getting so that I can watch full movies on the T809. Finally I started having successes getting slightly shorter films on there -- like some Chaplin and Buster Keaton films, and now finally I've got North by Northwest and some other full-length features on there. HITCHCOCK ON MY T809!

In a nutshell, although there is specific software by Makayama that purports to do the conversion for you, I found I had the best success by (1) using ImTOO 3gp video converter, (2) finally hitting on a collection of configurations for bitrate, frame rate, etc., and (3) if the file size gets more than a certain size, using ImTOO to split it into two one-hour chunks.

I wrote up a...

PC or Mac phone manager.

Please forgive me if I missed finding this in my search.

Is there any phone manager software out there that allow you to go thru all the possible configurations/settings of your phone?

I know there is more then a few pieces of software that allow you to do phonebook, mms, calendar and that sort of thing.

I have tried MobileMAster, MobTime, PCStudio, Oxygen, Clever Cell & Wammu.

Thanks in advance.

2.5mm headset adapter?

I am thinking of purchasing this phone and have read some descriptions indicating that it comes with an adapter which would allow me to use the phone with a headset that has a standard 2.5mm miniplug. However, I can't seem to find any information to confirm that. Can anyone tell me whether the phone comes with such an adapter or whether and where it can be purchased aftermarket? Thanks
I am pretty sure that you will not receive this adapter with your phone. I did not. On ebay, I purchased an adapter for $6 dollars with shipping which is a very good price. I believe this is the best thing to do.

Permanent text message icon?

Got my T809 a couple weeks ago, very happy with it. However, I have a constant "new text message" icon visible on the main display, with a kind of flashing red bar in the upper right corner of it.

I have no new text messages anywhere; people have texted me since this icon appeared, and it seems to do nothing. Has anyone seen this / know how to fix it?

Thanks!

Never mind... it means the SIM card is full of SMS messages.

If you flash to the D820 you can install opera mini on there. Or any other java based mobile browser for that matter.

can it ring any louder?

Hey guys just got a simple question i work at sonic and it's pretty loud inside there i was wonderin if there was a way to make the phone ring any louder.... i set it to volume five... i've gone to the secret menu and adjusted the ring volumes ...it still rings so quietly i can barely hear it when there's noise when it's quite it's like being at a concert when i get a phonecall...b ut any other time i miss my call

anyone have any tricks or know of different settings i can use through the secret menu to get a louder ring????
any help would be greatly appreciated : )
I would just say -- choose a different TUNE. some of the tunes really ring clear, and others seem more quiet, at the same volume level. choose one that comes across really shrill. this is a LOUD phone.

Build Quality

Jesse,

Great comments on the 809's build quality. This is an issue that has prevented me from purchasing any type of slider format handset. Not only to I find them cumbersome, but they're just itching to be broken. Having not seen your name before in these pages...welcome!
My A800 has lasted for a year and weared fine. I have dropped it many times and it is scratched extensively, but it still works with nice action.
Jesse actually did the review on the LG vx8100. Here's the link:

I think he does a good job and will be a great fit here at PhoneScoop
I think the build quality isn't as bad as is being portrayed. The sliding mechanism has loosened slightly in my use. However all in all i think it a very well put together phone. Now I've only had it for a little over a month as stated in my review, s...

zero worry whatsoever about the physical quality of my T809. solid and good. anyway, a slider is less worrisome than a clamshell with regards to "itching to be broken!" ... you want a candy bar phone if that's your worry
