I've been rolling with a BB 8330 for wayyy too long and have been using Opera the whole time.

When they updated to 5, it ran awful. The layout seems to favor touch screen devices, and it ran super slow.

I'm sure the browser is great, it was just far too much a match for an old 8330 curve. I'm hoping this is better for it, but I don't want to go through the upgrade just to uninstall it and reinstall 4.0.

Any experience with it so far?

I haven't tried the 5.1 version yet.

It seems like Blackberries are never very good at running Opera. The original 5.0 version runs fine on my Sony c510, as well as several older Sony models. One of the main reasons I use Sony phones, other than their ability to use push email, is because they are good for Java.

JBenchmark.com has various testing routines, and the BB 8330 scored pretty bad for Java 2.0 testing, falling well behind older smartphones of other brands (such as Nokia e-series). The BB 9000 is better, but it doesn't look like it is really made for Java either.

I have used opera on several Iden phones plus a couple of cdma phones. Yesterday my phone froze twice. Maybe it was just a bug. But I am a opera fan for life. I would pay to use it.

When I was using opera on the Iden network, the speed was amazing. Motorola and Nextel should put it on every phone just like they did with the new i1..
