HTC's website lists this as a GSM/UMTS device. Why would US Cellular carry it when they are a CDMA carrier?

On the U.S. Cellular Facebook page, the company announced that it would sell the HTC Desire Android phone in July, after its "rigorous testing is complete."

soon as u.s cellular can figure out how to cripple it i would guess, u.s cellular is the best in chicago which if anyone knows will work underground in the "el" - subway. but their phones with the exception of the motorola q have been crippled. i hope they leave it pure so that people can tether and do other gsm-type of stuff to it. they have the best cdma call quality network imo. 😛 😛 😛

IT&T only offers *1* smartphone, and it's not Android. So probably every carrier will get some sort of variation.

No they made a CDMA version of the desire. If you go to www.phonearena.com you will see that.
