To all the people who think this is great

Let me remind you that we are traveling on a road to a communist country and when the government passes a law like this, even if you like this law, it put us one more mile closer to the communist country. Please stop and think about what is going on now days. Did we get to vote on this? No! The government just decided for us what is best. You say thats ok cause I agree with this law but what about when they pass something that you dont agree with and did not even give you a choice. What if they decide that the public dont really need cell phones and they decide that only the government should have them, you say there is no chance of that, and that maybe true today but what about 5 years from now.
Really?
you want to go there?
i bet you are one of the same people that think computers are going to rise up against humans and take over the world too. anything that will help me live another day is alright by me.
Listen a law shouldnt have to be...

Its really simple vote for someone who agrees with your views.... and if you say there is no one running with your same views, then you need to take a look at your way of life 😉
Sorry, but this has nothing to do with communism, and you seem to misunderstand our government structure. We don't vote on all the issues- that is what is done in a direct democracy. We live in a representative republic, not a democracy. That means we...

and let me guess... you probably think that its OK to drive a vehicle while watching a DVD (this was also made law, if I'm not mistaken), or drinking while impared.

If I'm not mistaken, a general rule to which this can be applied already exists in ...

Car & Driver: Unprotected Text

http://www.caranddriver.com/features/09q2/texting_wh ... »

Everyone should read this.

For the lazy-butts out there that choose not to read it, Car & Driver is doing a very basic experiment in a closed course: Drive in a straight line & keep a look out for a red light that will illiuminate over the dash but under the windshield that the passenger will activate. This light will represent a vehicle braking in front of the driver.

The experiment records the results of normal driving conditions (i.e. no distractions, good weather), then proceeds to driving while texting, then driving while legally drunk.

This experiment involves 2 regular vehicles that occupy the roads in everyday traffic. Now imagin...

FCC Task Force Tackles AT&T, Google, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon

Today, 1:00 PM by Eric M. Zeman

Today the Federal Communications Commission sent letters of inquiry to all four national wireless network operators -- AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless -- and Google over the use of early termination fees. The investigation is being headed by the FCC's new Consumer Task Force. FCC chairman Julius Genachowski said, "I commend the Commission staff for its ongoing and proactive examination of the consumer experience in the wireless marketplace. This inquiry is the first action by the FCC's Consumer Task Force, which was launched last week to tackle these kinds of issues. I look forward to reviewin...

Nobody has yet to answer this

What about other non-voice functions? Things like the navigator, mp3 player, or other apps? Is there any evidence that using a phone for a GPS is any more risky than using a standalone GPS? Just about every trucker has satellite radio, what about using the Sirius/XM app or a streaming service?

I understand the spirit of the law, but it's just too hard to enforce.
I think using an mp3 player or gps device is equivelent to tuning a car stereo. Texting requires more attention. I know personally I have gone miles while texting and then thought 'wow how did I get here'... I think that was stupid of me...

They target cellphones because they have the most media attention, thus the highest chance of raising money/getting votes

Great...

Now those pesky truckers can actually pay attention when merging instead of focusing on texting Birtha and telling her to pick up a carton of American Gold Menthol 100's on her way home from the karaoke bar. 👀
Like a cop can see into a vehicle that is 12 feet in the air. Good luck with this collecting the money>>>>>>
