DROID is trademark of Lucasfilm Ltd

As in "These arn't the droids you're looking for."
George Lucas most likely has the name "Droid" trademarked.

Trademarks are not all encompassing things. They pretty much only apply in similar businesses. For example, there's a restaurant chain called "Red Robin" and a comic book character of the same name.
Lucasfilm, if it has such a trademark, probably only holds it for entertainment purposes. However, since droid is essentially a shortened form of the common word android, it may not be trademarkable.

At the end of the trailer, the fine print at the bottom lists that Droid is a trademark of LucasFilm and is used under license.
