Not too shabby!
Not bad, T-Mobile. Depending on the performance, I might go back to T-Mobile. They have the best voice quality in my area with top-notch coverage, but their speeds (yes, 3G) were pathetic compared to Sprint. If T-Mobile gets HSPA+ up and running before Sprint or VZW gets 4G in my area (which seems very likely), I might go back.
Also, AT&T...that damn network is a joke. HSPA 7.2. by 2011...when T-Mobile will have HSPA+ by 2010, VZW is beginning to release trial markets for LTE, and Sprint/Clearwire are actively rolling out WiMAX. I seriously can't wait for the iPhone to leave them and watch the people flock away.
I dont think the Iphone is going to leave them and I dont think the Iphone will be enough to keep them in the near future neither.
I also dont know how much of this will see its end result as It seems more and more likely everyday that T-Mobile is ...
Well HSPA+ is better then nothing, they really need to be going to LTE.
OH, and flock away? Maybe to VZW, but I doubt to TMO, even with their deployment of HSPA+ which is nice, they will still have a far smaller 3g footprint then any other majo...
It's good T-Mobile and Sprint are taking edge of data.
3G performance is pretty good in NYC, just behind Sprint, but better than ATT and VZW when tethered.
T-mobile has been sitting on a bad seat. They are late to the 3G game, and now they want to upgrade to HSPA+. I think it would better serve to skip this transition and go right to LTE. It appears the GSM counterparts will be behind in the struggle for 4G. I couldn't help notice that the CDMA variants are being more aggressive in this advancement. Why spend time and money on old hat? "Time To Market" has always been a strategic practice in progressing the business attributes and failing to move ahead in this goes against the law of advancement(Especially in the quick changing environment of the wireless industy). This is classic leapfrogging. EV-DO trounces EDGE, so HSPDA is deployed to overtake it. But the results of HSDPA have only been som...
One never knows. When Verizon made plans to launch Ev-Do years ago, Sprint sniffed at it instead planing to launch Ev-Dv which was to be more advanced, faster etc... What happened? Verizon launched Ev-Do and Sprint fell behind in the marketplace. ...
Hey this is great, but
CAN WE GET A 3G/UMA DIVICE FROM YOU! 😡
The rumor mill says the BB 9700 will have both. I was told by an HTC rep a few months ago that they couldn't put both UMA and 3G in the same device. There was a 100% call drop rate switching between the 2. Apparently though, RIM has solved that par...
The 9700 from blackberry is going to have 3G/UMA. I've played with it and its very nice. Going to be the best blackberry out there by far. About the same size as the 8700 but with a trackpad instead of the trackball. Can't say much on the battery ...
Here's an idea: Worry about 3G first
So instead of deploying a new technology for an area that already has 3G (area, lol), why don't they deploy their marvelous 3G for the LARGE part of the country that doesn't have it yet?!
T-Mobile's only about 4 years behind the ball on this anyway (And I work for the place 👀 0
You could say the same about ATT. They spend all this time developing/promoting a fast 3g service when a majority of the country doesn't even have the basic 3g.
I totally agree with dnbstyle29, they need to focus on expanding their 3g coverage first. T-mobile has the smallest footprint out of all major players. T-mobile decided it would expand its 3g first into the big metro cities, which is reasonable but .....
wow I waited the whole day at work for some news for today and I get some waek T-mobile news!
This is crazy!
Is this all that is happening today. this is the only news we have?
What, this isn't exciting news to you? I'm not a Tmo customer, but any news about improving wireless data is exciting news. Because all 4 of the big companies 3G speeds are STILL far from satisfactory at the end of September 2009. So bring on the impr...
