You guys need to visit the XDA forums...

Those boys over there have been giving us custom ROMs that allow APPS to be installed to SD Card... allow SD cards to function as swap memory for the OS...

They have ported HTC Hero software and widgets to the G1 and MyTouch 3G.

Android STOMPS all other phone platforms... they just need better hardware for the OS to realy be able to compete with Apple.

I literally keep switching back and forth between my iPhone and my G1 because I love both and can't decide between the 2.
I have my G1 running apps on the SDcard, about 300mb of storage and a 32mb memory swap. Got some nice Donut features too. I don't really like Hero, runs too slow.

But yeah once there are better devices out there Android will be amazing.

Can't run applications from the expansion card?

Whose fault is that, HTC or google? It seems like a stupid blunder.
Not really a blunder most phones can't run applications from a memory card let alone OS expansions. Look at a Blackberry 8310 they can not run apps from the memory card.

hmm i did not know this, is this true ?

The G1 isn't even a year old, and if it's treated as legacy hardware this quickly into its life span, Android is going to fail as a mobile platform.
Android won't fail as a platform. It has way to much personalization ability. I think what you will see in the future is just better phones. The G1 was a fast push out to get the name out their. BTW my wifey got the G1 and is already ready for an ...

You are amazingly wrong. Android is here to stay. Have you seen the Hero? The Rachael UI? The G1 is FIRST GEN. Let's say that again. FIRST GEN. Even the MyTouch has double the ROM, which gives about 4 times the available space. I've got 40+ ap...

Windows Mobile 6.1 can....

I have a HTC Dash also with a 4GB memory card and I have all sorts of apps installed and running off my microSD card, it gives you the option when you're installing.
So does S60, I can do the same on my Nokia N95.
