We're entering a recession...don't be a fool and strike...

Please.

Those employees who are non-union are eligible to be placed in different locations throughout the country to assist with the strike. You could be based in Florida and forced to go to Michigan. You will be required to work 32 hours a week; not a big deal. However, you will STILL be required to do your NORMAL job. Yes, those filling in will be required to work 72 hours a week during the strike. They will not get additional pay. They did not get pay raises in 2009...and let's not forget the week's worth of vacation they lost in the merger. But since they are not part of a union but instead the backbone of the organization, they are REQUIRED to go fill in. Whether you are single, married, one kid, five kids, divorced or widow...

They screw not just the customers, now the employees and America as a whole.

SLAMMER KNOW THE FACTS BEFORE YOU JUDGE...

Read this Moron's comment...

In this time of economic depression, I find it inconceivable to beg for changes or raises. I have several friends that have been out of work for months that would love to take these peoples places. Rather than strike, be happy you have employment or step aside and let the unemployed take over that would appreciate a paycheck.

FIRST OF ALL I AM A AT&T EMPLOYEE OF A COR STORE, I HAPPEN TO BE A MEMBER OF CWA AND THIS PERSON ABOVE HAS NO IDEA WHAT THEY HECK HE OR SHE IS TALKING ABOUT.

OUR CONTRACT IS UP , WE HAVE TO RENEGOTIATE A NEW ONE. WE AREN'T TRYING TO GET A RAISE, WE ARE TRYING TO KEEP OUR BENEFITS OF WHAT WE ALREADY HAVE. WE ARE ALL AWARE OF THE STATE OF ECONOMY.
WE HAVE FAMILY AND MOUTHS TO FEED. ...

Why do they strike?

They know that each and every one of them is replaceable so they band together and threaten to grind the entire company to a halt.

With so many people unemployed right now

I don't see this strike sitting well with the general public. Refusing to work because you are not getting a raise and you are having to pay some more for your health care is not an uncommon union move, but doing so in a recession with unemployment on the rise is just really bad timing.

Just because you have a union, doesn't mean you are immune to the reality of the times.

Just because you don't understand the obligations and business strategies required to keep a company growing, does not other's can't either. Didn't AT&T just cut over 20K jobs last year?

A strike is a risk. Apparently it's a risk the members have agreed is worth taking. Is your union going to pay your rent for you while you are not going to work (and as I und...

Numbers don't lie, companies do

Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t. For example, AT&T sold more than 4 million iphones last year, if the lowest plan is $69.99. You do the math; AT&T is not losing money and that is due to quality products and a skilled work force. I understand that a lot of business are making cut and laying workers off. People are angry, but that is why I feel having union representation is so important; together we stand. I am Sales Rep at a company owned store and love what I do so much that they pay me to do it, but I am not open to taking cut where they are not necessary.

I will support the union for now.

The worse part about the recent the contract talks is that they have forced co-workers whom stand together for 40+ hours every week to c...

HERE'S THE FACTS.... READ THEM and YOU make the CALL.

One of the TOP 10 companies to invest in is screwing over their retail sales employees by trying to break the union and forcing them to now take UNPAID vacations.....

So much for sharing the weatlh....and "trickle" down. This is the beginning of feudalism from the dark ages. Do you think the CEO's will take any cut in pay- not they will have a tremendous pay raise instead.

AT&T (T) sells phones and telecom services. This is a sector that will always be with us. AT&T is now into the business of delivering video to people's homes and data to their cellphones. Both are likely to grow for years. In the final quarter of 2008, AT&T had net income of $2.4 billion on revenue of $31.1 billion. The company has free cash flow of $5.4 billion fo...

This is appauling..

Rather than strike, be happy you have employment or step aside and let the unemployed take over that would appreciate a paycheck.
The CEO of the company said no raises this year due to the company struggling. But he just sold his 3.2 mil shares of AT&T for 11.00 each. what is the sick part is that he apaid nothing for the stock. this compnay is sitting on profit of 10 billion......

Bad Timing

While I support what the Union Members are after, I must agree, this is a bad time for this. I know several people that work for AT&T, they don't even want the strike, so I hope for all their sakes, that the company and the CWA come to some kind of agreement.
Yea it sucks the contract expires tonight at midnight but you have to have another contract as well... we would continue to work if AT&T continued to honor the original contract until one is made but they refuse.

Good news for agents...

...but bad news for Corporate employees (in the affected states) who will lose wages and commissions during the strike. 😕
Yes Indeed. I work for an agent and my only fear is that customers won't be able to get service when they call in for an issue. I am huge on customer service, so I just hope the people who matter, "customers" dont suffer.
