With the current situation...

and people tightening their spending, some will definitely cut their landlines and keep only their cell phones, to save money.

So, in a ways, this would probably have net effect now.
To be honest, I am kind of shocked that this hasn't been a standard feature all along.

You miss one little thing...

In theory, this is a nice concept. In reality, it has many many flaws. The biggest is this: MetroPCS stated they are doing this in hopes of more people ditching wireline for wireless. That's all well and good, but stop and think about it for a moment. Wireless numbers have no directory and no name associated in MOST cases...and you will simply see "Wireless Caller". Verizon Wireless for one does not publish the name associated with the number and for a time Sprint showed the account holder name. What if it's not the account holder who's calling? OOPS! Oversight huh? So thank you MetroPCS for introducing a service to help eliminate wireline customers and then make your new service useless 😁
doesnt have to be account holder that calling in.
atleast u have a idea where the call is coming from.

Ummmm, why didn't anyone else think of that?

These giant companies could've done it....but they don't want to spend the extra cash to make it happen. It's pretty sad when a low end regional carrier like metro pcs steps up to the plate and makes such a ingenious move. the price is kind of steep but then again compare their CID rate to at&t's....i don't see any difference except that you can take your metro phone along. 😎
Steep price? It's only $2 a month.
