Microsoft Makes Windows Live Messenger Available to BlackBerries

Why?

I could see this being useful, but wouldn't a very lightweight desktop version of BBmessenger make more sense.

I remember when I used to sell the 'ol BB's and I'd always say IM is a great way to stay in touch with a secretary or someone while you are in a meeting, but I don't really know of any companies that us windows live messenger. Most use propitiatory IM clients that are locked to their VPNs.

I guess now at least everyone can talk from their blackberrys to their friends on their XBoxs.

It's not always all about business with RIM. When the pearl was released however long ago it started a more consumer friendly trend for RIM, as well as the Curve. I work for Sprint, so I have a BB my self but more and more I see little 16-18 year ol...
