Sprint Needs More Time to Clear Spectrum

Damn near killed em

This is the 3rd time I've seen news of sprint needing more time to clear spectrum since november last year. the first time there was a huge concern the government was going to shut down major parts of the network if the didn't vacate off the 800MHz spectrum... and then nothing happened. We never heard about it again.

The fcc is willing to trade spectrum to replace the 800MHz, so whats the deal?

This whole switching of the Spectrum is completely unfair to Sprint. Neither side is ready and even if Sprint was ready that doesn't mean the other side would be also.

Not sure, you guys are aware but there has been a lot of confusion about this matter on these forums. Nextel obviously made this agreement to get rid of SOME not all of the spectrum in the 800 MHz and some in other frequencies in exchange for 10 MHz in the 1.9 GHz band. They are I repeat not getting rid of their entire 800 MHz spectrum. They are doing this because of interference and they are showing goodwill because of this. They did not have to do this but they are. Of course, this has messed up operations and has caused numerous delays. Moreover, it cost Nextel on the spectrum and network side, which accumulates to drop calls and other awful things to the network. That is the gist of what the FCC Consensus Plan is and I do not want people...

I mean, how long have they known about this? When VZW decomissioned their analog towers, they sent letters out basically to the tune of "move it or lose it" saying after such-and-such a date, they would no longer support analog devices or plans, and that they were eligible for a free or discounted phone. If the customer did nothing, their service would be shut off.

I don't see why Sprint can't do the same thing.
