3.0 OS Questions
Was keeping up with the WWDC yesterday via macrumors. I can't recall a mention of whether or not 3.0 is still to include the Spotlight search feature. It's on Apple's site but I can't find a mention of it yesterday. Did I miss it?
Also, anyone know if 3GS will have the same docking port as 3G? I was a little annoyed that it was different from iPhone OG to 3G.

yes i actually was one of the people to have the beta on and apple let the beta testers have the offical release yesterday before everyone else it does have the search feature the 3gs and the 3g as does the original all have the same docking port the ...

I want to switch to ATT and shar a family plan with my son. Can we both get new iPhone's? I can't seem to make this happen when ordering online. Not sure if it's even possible in an ATT store. Any help? Thanks.
yes it is possible. just go into an apple store they can set you up and get it going on a family plan.
because of fraud, you can only order 1 iphone at a time when placing orders online... It's for your protection

I'm thinking of switching to an iPhone. I hear that there is a new one coming out in June with a longer battery life. What are the other upgrades that are expected?
Is it worth it to wait? Or is this just a software update that I can do in June with it comes out?

I would like to know if anyone that has unlocked the 3G Iphone for T-Mobile would know what the best data-plan to use on it with T-Mobile? I have heard from some friends that the best data-plan for it would be the one for the HTC Wing!

Why don't you just switch over to AT&T so you wouldn't have to ask difficult questions like the one posted? Not to mention if anything happens to the phone your SOL in regards to warranty.

AT&T deal is for 5 years. Shouldn't contract end in 2012 since iPhone launched July 2007.

Have the Storm...thinking about the iPhone
I am currently with Verizon and I have had the storm for about 2 months now. Already they had to replace my phone due to software problems. This phone is turning out to be just a headache.
The iPhone 3G isn't looking too bad these days but I really do not want AT&T. Anyone know if I can buy the iPhone and force Verizon to unlock it and put my number on there? Will I lose any features if Verizon is on my phone and not At&T Or am I just gonna have to pay the cancellation fee and go with AT&T?

No, unfortunately AT&T uses completely different technology than Verizon. The only 2 major carriers the iPhone works on is T-mobile and AT&T. Basically what I'm saying is the iPhone 3g is about as compatible with Verizon as an iPod Touch.

Storm, IPhone 3G or Omnia, that is the question.......
Ok People, I played with an IPhone 3G at the ATT store in New Brunswick, NJ for about an hour. I must say that I was VERY impressed. The internet browser is second to none! The call quality was crystal clear. I do understand that I was in the store and not out on the dock at the summer home in Pt. Pleasant. The camera doesn't have a flash, but that is minor. The touch screen is great.
The Storm was good, but not great. The browser is good, but not quite like IPhone. The video screen was awesome to say the least. It looks like HD on a phone. I didn't care for the push typing though. I like the touch of the IPhone.
I will test the Omnia, before making a final decision.
Right now, the IPhone is in the lead. I would hate to leave VZW ...

The iPhone is by far the most advanced and user friendly of the three devices. It is sooo much more stable than the Storm and does most things better than the omnia (with the possible exception of voice calls).

The iPhone 3g all the way. It is pretty much the best phone out there. YES : it does have multimedia, n TV , and video camera , etc. you just have to get those in apps. no biggy. if you want more info on the iphone 3g read my review on it.
