Casio G'zOne Adds New Color

Sprint's Ready Link, Cingular's PTT and Verizon's PTT all have the same thing in common. VOIP. You have to go through the internet to send the wanna be chirp to your friends. From personal experience i can safely say that just making a phone call is alot faster then going through the VOIP PTT process. Give it up Verizon. You failed once already, in the PTT area anyways. We wont talk about the other segments. 🤣

forget verizon PTT or any other PTT on VOIP... nextel has the best PTT and now sprint will have actual direct connect on thier new sprint phones coming out in a few weeeks... QCHAT baby!!!

now what verizon should have done was purchase or subscribe to rights using our PTT technology with use of rev a towers in rural areas for sprint customers

In my opinion, all of these posts are forgetting the fact that the G'Zone phone is not being marketed to consumers as the

"ZOMGWTFFBBQ PTT PHONE YOU MUST HAVE NOW FOR 1337 H4X0RZ Sk1llZ"

This phone is marketed as VZW's "Rugged Phone" ever since the first version of the phone. The second generation had PTT quitely placed on the phone.

BUT ZOMG WHY!?!?!?

I will tell you why, the majority of these phones are being sold to business's that require tougher phones: truckers, contractors, strippers, crack addicts, etc. And a lot of people in these lines of work (mostly contractors and Truckers do make use of PTT from time to time). Consumer level PTT was pulled a while ago, exsisting customers could still have it. But for new customers...

Verizon never discontinued its Push to Talk offerings. Sure the sales people never seriously tried to sell it but that is a different thing altogether. The first PTT phone was the Motorola V60P. Later they offered the Kyocera KX444 and the LG-VX4700 and the Motorola T300. The new G'zOne is merely a new PTT phone not the second coming of the service.

I don't know if a lot of you remember the failed soft-launch of the original PTT product they had. It was probably around 2003, or so, and they only had 1 phone. It was a Motorola V-190, I think. It was $200, activated, and it sucked. The PTT took about 8 seconds to connect, and when you're in a conversation, it took anywhere between 1, and 3 seconds for the other party to receive it.

Now, it's time for round 2, again, with one phone, and I'm sure that they are going to do another soft-launch. If you didn't know, a soft-launch means that they put out a product, and basically don't advertise it. That's right, they hope that with word of mouth alone, they will sell tons of this product... that failed the first time around, and still, is onl...
