Needs a bigger scale
It seems to me that having a number of individual apps the track this is counter-productive. If this tracking is going to work reliably, it'll need to be a part of the Smartphone OS that cannot be turned off. It may come down to this being mandated at some point.
The other issue is that these types of apps are good in theory, however I don't think or know that something like this has been shown to be effective on a global scale.
