No more $5 text pack?

I saw this within the article talking about the unlimited messaging plans and read that Verizon will no longer be offering the $5 text pack? I have asked about this and no one has heard anything about this. Does anything know anything behind this statement? Just curious. Because if its really going to be gone, I need to stop telling people about it. 😁
I sure as hell having heard anything about it from my contacts... I think phonescoop may have pulled that one out of their asses.

I've added a few of those plans on in the last few days and I talked to my regional director and she says it's staying. It's been an unadvertized plan for quite some time though, so it wouldn't surprise me to see it go away.

It's just a matter of ...

The $5 250 message package is still available.. It is now and always has been "offsheet pricing" so in other words, since the Unlimited IN/50 message package was mothballed the $5 package is THERE but VZW doesn't want to sell it too bad because it has...

It looks like the $5 pack is here to stay, at least for now. I've added a half a dozen of these plans to customers who just don't use $10 worth of texting a month, and added them since the phonescoop story broke. Verizon's website press release says...

Great, but is Verizon selling themselves short?

In talking with my customers who want unlimited texting, they are willing to pay considerably more than the $20 extra a month Verizon is currently asking. So I think they could be charging a lot more than what they are for unlimited texting...

The only catch is what the other guys are doing. I suppose in areas where Verizon has some more stiff competition (they're pretty much king here in South Dakota), $20 a month is about all they can get away with without people switching networks.

Still, if I were in charge of the pricing, I would have set it a bit higher.
Maybe in your area but there are other markets where people don't want to pay the $20 because of stiff competition. But WOW I think this is the first time I ever heard a customer ask why we don't want to charge them more.. 😁

STOP WHINING!

I hope I am not alone on this one. If so, I wouldn't be surprised. WHO CARES who was first to offer an unlimited text plan! It's GREAT News for the consumer. I know that everyone out there has their favorites. Probably because most of you work for one of the wireless companies mentioned. It's good to hear that you all are faithful to your respective companies. What's great about America is that we can all have choices! When we want to change, WE CAN! So STOP WHINING about who's first to do this or that. All I am concerned with is who will do it better for me. I hope some of you out there share in the same belief.
you can do it!
amen to that brother

Kind of like the Yankees... of Wireless

It's funny how Verizon riders here talk about how at&t copies whatever Verizon does. I mean, did anyone else fail to realize that Verizon is now the 3rd company to follow at&t's lead with a 30 day trial period? I didn't, in fact, I laughed out loud when I read the article on this very site.

But really, Verizon is like the Yankees of wireless. They were once the monster that no one was able to conquer. Now, they are merely a shadow of their old selves since being overtaken by a younger, smarter, hipper company. The "new at&t" is really about to ring in a "new day" in the wireless industry.

Better coverage. Better plans & services. Better Phones. Overall, better experience. There is a good reason why more people choose at&t in Was/Bal o...

SideKick

With this phone https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p =988
You get more with this unlimited messaging plan and 5.99 mobile web then you do now with a sidekick. EVDO, Video Playback, this might keyword! might affect Sidekick Sales big time!
sidekick is cheaper.....
you know for the cheaper people

The Sidekick works differently than other devices as well. I uses a "relay service" so the info and the OS are virtually on the device. Basically, all of your games, emails, messages, contacts, ringtones and pictures are constantly being backed up on ...

I don't think it will affect sidekick sales at all. with the "new" unlimited messaging verizon now offers, with the internet package (will the 5.99 mobile web be "unlimited"?), thats still a total of $26/mo. The sidekick's package includes unlimited m...

but is it really unlimited?

i know that vzw has a thing about saying 'unlimited' and then limiting what they've said would be unltd. i.e. aircards....
Of course it's unlimited.....? Just extend your contract for another two years, but wait does that ruin my upgrade eligibility? And my personal favorite be VERY wary of "Domestic" roaming, (verizon loves showing the big "RED" map that paints the whole...

The short answer, no, it's not unlimited. If you are not within the National Enhanced Services Rate and Coverage Area, text messages are not unlimited. They are charged at the pay-as-you-go rate of $0.15 per message. This is plastered all over the col...

Is this website Verizon Fanboys?

When Cingular now the new at&t launched unlim M2M messaging I know that this site was made aware but posted nothing. Now the new at&t is adding unlim messaging and nothing again? 🙄
verizon has more active posters on this site...if you look at the cingy forum, and the verizon forum..you will see the difference in activity.

And once att did it, it wasn't a big deal anymore. Everyone knew that att was going to copy what ever v...

I know people will coplain and find fault in this promo, but $20 for unlimited txt/pix/flix is a good deal. Kinda of surprised they finally did it
you shouldnt be surprised at all. They really had to do this. And as a leader in the industry and am glad to see they stepped and finally realized that they needed to make this move.

Yeah, you know VZW is feeling the T-Mobile squeeze. With TMO you get unlimited messaging for 15 a month. And for family plans, 20 a month for up to 5 lines. And definitely no contract extension. Yeah, reliable network blah blah blah. I'm sticking with...

Or...

...I can just go with metroPCS and save $15 bucks per month.
and be limited to a local calling area. I have friends that have metro, i think t-mobile gets a better signal.

GREAT!!....Until You Have to Extend your Contract

This sounds like a pretty good deal. But when existing custome's try to get this deal, or any deal for that matter with Verizon, they'll have to extend their contract.

Just another reason why at&t is better overall than Verizon. Whenever you want to change your rate plan, no contract extension required! Oh yeah, and you keep Rollover!!
Actually on text messaging packages you do not need to extend your contract.

Also just like when they bumped the $20 text package to 5000 texts a few month's ago they automatically moved customers that were on the previous plan.

Think before y...

That's all well and good if you live in an area where ATT works. Out here in SD, we have Alltel or Verizon, and Vzw has the best service, so I'm 100% comfortable taking my stones (no rollover, contract extensions, not as cool phones) to have service ...

It is truly unlimited and yes it requires a plan, but so does Cingular/at&t or they are supposed to when changing plans anyway. But the one good thing that comes out of this though is the fact that the customer still only pays $30 for an account wit...

Family Share

Missing from the main story is what I think is the real bargin, unlimited text on Family Share plans.

It's an additional $30 per plan, but that can give you unlimited texting across an entire family share plan, up to five lines.

That, in my opinion, is huge. I've seen so many families that are spending just as much on text messaging as they are on minutes, because they need a seperate package for each line.
Exactly. It would work well for me since I have three lines on my account (my mom, my brother, and I) and the $10 messaging on my brothers, and the $15 messaging on mine too. I need the $15 messaging plan on mine because most of the people I text don'...

In Yet ANOTHER PR move...

Verizon eliminate the $5 messaging option. Awesome 🙄
again, verizon is NOT eliminating the $5 texting plan. My data consultant has personally responsded to this question. We have been adding them to accounts since the new plans have taken effect. No changes.

As of right now...

in contradiction to what the article is stating, in the midwest region the $5 250 text package is still available and apparently will remain available.

Cingular Unl begins 04/20

Cingular will begin offering Unl as well for $19.99 a mo. replacing the 3000 messaging bundle on 4/20. Unl will be offered in place of the 3000 on all messaging packages.

No extension required. Ownage.
extension is smart for verizon...if you want the package, ante up and sign a new deal. The two year deal is overated anyway, especially when you go with a pretty solid company like verizon.

And way to be late to the party cingy! Always, one step b...
