Flight 93 on Sept 11th.. Cell phone use.

"According to the press release, it is currently impossible to connect by cell phone in a plane that is above 4,000 feet.

During the Republican National Convention in New York City last month, Deena Burnett, widow of Flight 93 victim Tom Burnett, spoke of the four telephone calls she received from her husband aboard the doomed airliner on September 11th, all of which were received from his cell phone, one of which lasted 13 minutes.

With the FAA statement that Flight 93 never went below 29,000 feet until its' sudden fatal plunge, these two stories seem to be mutually exclusive. Either it is possible to make cell phone calls from a commercial jetliner in flight at cruising altitude - or it isn't."

Makes you think people... 9/11 ma...

Time to reeducate judges--again.

Gosh, one moment we're told cell phones can cause planes to explode; next minute we're told planes will have wireless communication networks.

It wasn't so long ago that courts were sending people to jail for using cell phones on planes...

...not for disrupting other passengers but for allegedly putting everyone at risk...

"...aviation experts told a three-day trial that radio waves from the phone could have sparked an explosion or affected the Boeing 737's navigational systems..."

I can only assume that these new planes have special shielding that somehow prevents this. Or could it possibly be that there was never really any danger in the first place?--as further evi...

OUTSTANDING

Are they sure it won't bring down the plan 👀 and all the other crap they tried to feed us on the feasibility of cell service on plans.

Any guesses when the US might do the same?
Just using your cell phone on a plane, by itself, could interfere with plane radio and navigation systems, but more importantly would definitely wreak havoc with the cell phone network on the ground. It might not 'bring down the plane', but it's not '...

Most of that is industry propoganda. Planes are subject to EM fields far worse than electronic devices at that altitude (soloar radiation, etc.). Airplanes are designed such that all the systems are sheilded from interference and a game boy or a cel...

Sad :(

As much as I think it would be great be able to use your cell on a plane, in the end I am very upset. A plane is one of the last places on earth free of rings, beeps, buzzes, and people screaming into their mouth pieces.

Could you imagine an entire airbus A380 with 500+ people on board all yaking it up?

There's an excuse for terrorism.
