Worthless

Why not just tell users they can also only use the device between 9AM and 5PM as well. When the financing is up I'm sure Verizon doesn't unlock the boot loader, remove any of the bloat ware or fix any of the updates either. Who in their right mind would ever buy this device.
I doubt VZW will even stock this phone in most of their stores, and probably keep it to online sales, or special order in the store. They are more interested in selling their Droid line, Samsung's and iPhone's..
In a way I'm glad I didn't wait for this device. Once I heard that T-Mobile wasn't going to carry the Nexus 6p I figure some bs like this was going to happen. I really loved my moto Nexus 6, but Google dropped the ball with this one.

Then dont buy it from Verizon, buy it directly from the Google Store. While you're at it, switch to Project Fi for superior service, and Project Fi is a lot cheaper, too. You can also make payments on the phone if you buy it from Project Fi.

Avoid Verizon Like the Plague

There is absolutely no need to use the Verizon branded phone or the greedy company, at all. If you want an unlocked Pixel phone, use Google Fi and save money on service, too. https://fi.google.com/about/

Fail, Verizon, fail

So this means updates are going to be reactive instead of proactive and be delayed instead of immediate?

This is why the Nexus line was losing steam, and this completely puts out the fire.
