Actually, I'm very surprized there isn't a marketing tie-in. And please tell me it comes in colors other than vomit green (a yellow one could be Pikachu?) The Firefly is a much prettier device (IMHO), but regardless, it's a great sales idea the Cing &...

User Review

Did anybody read the user review for this phone. There is a guy saying that the phone got his kid hit by a truck because the kid went across the street to answer it without looking. Ummmm..... That sound more like a user malfunction then a problem with the phone. No offense buddy, but maybe your kid should be taught not to cross the street without looking. 🙄
Right with ya there... but dont ya think that maybe this phone is a little overboard? I mean it is good but for 5-8 year olds... come on. Give them a 2 way radio if all else fails.

ewwwww

why dont you just buy your kid a free phone , every carrier has some, and they will prob. do a lot more than this repulsive green thing. and if your worried about your kid misusing a cell phone, teach then there limits to it, or wait till they are more mature.
😁 A good selling point to this phone is the fact that it looks like Shrek. All of the kids will love that. Personally, I don't want my five-year olds having access to call whoever, whenever he wants. If he can just call his mom and I, that's great! I...

hmmmmm....

Well what happens when you give this to a kid and they decide to call 911 without any need for help? What then, and what if your kid has it in there pocket and it presses the help button (911) and it calls without them knowing? Now you have phones calling 911 and your child has no idea. Fines people... your going to get fined. BIG. Just think about that....

This will do great!

I think that these new children's phones will do really good. Personally I think the Verizon one is cooler. I thought this phone was awesome the first time I saw it about 5 months or so ago. LG makes the best phones and it looks as though they're doing it again. I can't wait to start selling this phone. 😁
I'm with you on this one. Phones like this will help parents keep up with little ones, and avoid high monthly bills to keep in touch with said little ones.

Something that is benificial, and will make me some money, did God himself invent this idea...

Good and bad

I like this feature, being a parent. Being able to track you kids, and know where they are, and making sure that they're where they're supposed to be is nice. It's also nice to be able to pull one of those "I know you haven't left Susan's house yet..." moments.

My inner Orwell alarm is going off though... At what point does Big Brother starting pinging us, figuring out where we are, or have they already? 👀
They can already do that. Hence the 911/locator setting on your phone. They just haven't used it against anyone I don't believe.

Firefly rip off

this phone is just a rip off of the firefly which is way cuter by the way
The great thing that the MIGO has that the Firefly doesn't is it's a regular phone, not prepay. I don't like the prepay option because if you don't use the minutes they expire. I got the MIGO for my son, who won't use it much and want to know that i...

what's the point? just restrict an LG

Ok, so it's a "Shrek phone" and may appeal to little ones. My 7 year old has an LG6100. I can restrict outbound calls to the phonebook only (which I programmed and is also locked) so how is the Migo better? Its the same price, a pain to program (have you read the manual on this?) and more restrictive than a regular phone. If you reprogram the emergency button, how is the FCC, with their drive to make sure every U.S. cell phone can call 911, going to react?
How can you restrict outbound calls to phonebook only? Can you do this with any Verizon phone? I like this phone and think it would be perfect for my 7 year old, but would like it to have more than 4 numbers available (we have a big family). I woul...

Great phone for my 89 year old mother-in-law?

My elderly mother-in-law has a wireless phone primarily in case she falls or otherwise gets in trouble ... but, it's operation is beyond her, she hates it, couldn't use it if her life depended on it (literally) ... soooo, this MIGO phone looks like it might be just right for her. Comments?
I think it would be great for her. It is so simple to use.

Just got one for my Son...It's so darn cute!

I just picked one of these up for my son and I have to say, this thing is so darn cute! I see some posts on here where people are saying what a waste this phone is, how ugly this phone is, and so on and so on.....Well, they have to remember that this phone isn't offered as an upgrade to an adult phone or even geared towards adults at all, it's for KIDS and I think the idea and style are perfect. Heck, I'm 32 and I like it! If it had a regular keypad I just might of gotten one for myself! I like that you can put the numbers in that they can call and that it is so easy to operate for young, first time users. I think it is a great safety device and so much better than those pre-paid phones because the minutes expire and if they don't use t...

Ugly yes HOWEVER....

It does have a GPS circuit so you can locate the kid which gives it one benefit other than the fact it's as cute as a leper with a sunburn.

I see the Firefly becoming a bigger hit because you can customize it from blue to pink and it has the mom and dad buttons which the Migo doesn't have.
Well, some kids don't have a Mom AND a Dad, and with the MIGO, I put Mom on #1 and when my son presses #1, the screen asks "call Mom?".

911 Button??

Is that red button for emergency use? I don't think that is such a good idea. Kids will be pushing it all the time.
The whole phone is a bad idea. I bet you're right though, I wonder how municipalities will respond to the spike in accidental 911 calls if this phones takes off.

here is the deal it takes two button pushes to dial 911 do your kids dial 911 when at home no they know better so hence forth the same with this childs divice
...
OK OK...here's the deal. Verizon Wireless isn't so dumb to have created a phone that has a button just for 911...the button is capable for re-programing. Yes this means that the red 911 button can be changed to grandmas house.

I laugh at this. 5 year old kids can run a phone better than I can.

What we really need is a phone for old people. They dont even know how to run a toaster let alone a cell phone.

UGHH!!

Although I agree with many of the statements on this forum regarding the look of this phone and lack of functionality, I must confess that I am considering buying this phone for my 8 year old daughter. I love that there are only 4 phone numbers in the book and an emergency number as well.

I have an 8 yr old and a 12 yr old daughter and I have found out the hard way that trusting teenagers with a phone is not the easiest thing to do.

She has a large phone book (almost as large as mine) and has even taken to using her cell phone when she is home even thought the house phone is feet from her. She ahs become better with the phone after much reinforcing of rules.

My eight year old has been bugging me for a phone for some time now and I...

Just picked up phone today

😁
my husband just picked up this phone today for my 6 1/2 year old. The phone cost $99 with 2 year activation, and $9.99 a month added onto our family plan. 6 1/2 year olds have actvities that we never had as child, that keep them away from us for lengths of time, i.e. Brownie meetings, after school sports, and numerous play dates. This is just a tool, for us to give them to reach us, if they want to use. It's not for everyone and it does tach responsibility at a young age (which they have more than I did at that age).

perfect for a child with disabilities

🙂 Our oldest child is almost 13 years old and like most kiddos in junior high she wants a cell phone. She has multiple learning disabilities and we felt it would make her/us feel more secure if she could contact us whenever she needed to.
I let her have my old phone when I traded up, but we soon realized that while she wants/needs a cell phone it was too confusing for her to try to reach us;she dialed her grandparents, my closest friend, her school, but not us!!this totally freaked her out.
So, needless to say we are thrilled about the new phone and best of all our child is excited plus she likes the idea of having a shrek phone that is easy for her to understand. It is very important for kiddos with disabilities to have the "normal" ...

What's your point? Verizon feels like they need this phone for their services and Firefly is GSM only.

Does it mean that they shouldn't launch it?
