Won't go any further than activation bar when turned on.

I have an unused/unactivated Samsung Verizon SCH-U900 phone that will go no further than the activation bar (at least this is what I assume it is called). The bar will go to end and return to beginning and keep repeating. Is there any hope for using this phone or should I just trash it?

Can we answer a call while the flip is closed?

I am interested in this phone and I just like to know whether we can activate the speakerphone to answer an incoming call while the flip is closed. I currently have the Samsung Sch-a930 and it can do so. Thank you.

Help? Dormant mode and Flashlight?

Hiya,

So, I purchased this phone in no small part to the reviews it got here. So far, 2 problems that I can't seem to find the answers to.

1. The phone rings for exactly 1 second, then dumps my callers to voice mail. I can only assume it is in some kind of power-save mode that takes a little bit to come out of. If that's the case, or whatever it is, I want to disable it pronto so I have time to pick up my phone and open it before the caller gets dumped to voice mail.

2. I thought this phone was supposed to have a flashlight feature, where the LED camera light could be activated and used as a flashlight? Can't find that feature anywhere in the user manual.

Please help!

The reason the call is being dumped if probably because you have a cell phone case with a magnetic clip.

Why anyone would put a magnet next to ANY electronic device is beyond me. But you people have your reasons.

And the flashlight is turned o...

Custom Ringtones!!! Finally

It is official - if you have the USB cable - there are now instructions on how to put your custom made ringtones onto the U900 - without having to use Get It Now.

Check out this forum:

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1285589 »

All you need is the USB cable, QPST 2.7 build 231 (which you can find online for free), and iTunes to make your custom 30 second ringtones (I have posted how to do this also).

This is what I was waiting on!!
So you finally figured it out!!!

Thanks a lot Lick um!!!
Ive been making free ringtones for ALL verizon phones for free for about 3 years now. No cables needed. i can not post here because verizon SPYs will shut it down!!!

Texting them to your phone works just fine. Just make sure that your saving the sounds to your phone and not your card...
You sound like you know what you're doing. Tell me how to move sounds from my phone to the ringtone section. It won't let me do it. I have great ringtones in sounds folder....plz HELP!

send sounds to ringtones folder

I am so frustrated. I own this great flip shot phone but it has terrible ring tones. i found some ring tones at phonezoo that are great and they were sent to my phone. I pushed the button to save as ringtone but they all went to my sounds folder. Now I can't get them moved to my ringtones. I have no option under "options". when I sent them to myself, I saved in ringtones and phone says file already exists...but it isn't listed in the ringtones list. This is crazy! Is there a way around this?
dont use that website anymore. just download audacity or any audio editor and crop any song u have to 19 or 30 secs and save it. once u have done that just move the file to my_sounds folder thats in your micro sd. put the card in to your fone, go to m...

PLEASE PLEASE

tell me they have made this phone where you can add words to the T9

Its the one big downfall I had with the A990

I just bought a Voyager and eh its ok .. If Id had even heard about this phone Id have waited and maybe got this instead .. I miss my 990

I use a phone to three things
talk
txt
pictures

and the 990 did it all very well sans the adding words to the T9

I heard rumors that Samgung is working on a 5mp with verizon

Part of me is considering swapping out my Voyager for this .. Hell Id save 100 bills too

hummm
If you don't like the Voyager, swap it out. I don't know if this phone will be capable of adding words to the T9. Some Samsung phones have that capability now so I would be surprised if you couldn't.
I heard U900 supports T9 and Samsung is working on 5mp. ( a friend of mine works for Samsung).
Yes this phone does support T9 Learning, just hit 'word' after typing it in 'abc' form and it will learn it. It will put it at the end of the list so just hit next till you see it.

Random UPPERCASE letters in texting?

This is bothering me. When texting, random letters will appear in uppercase. An example is this "Hello How are You" the H in HOW should not be uppercase and the Y in YOU should definitely not be uppercase. I've had many others such as "What About it?" why is the A in ABOUT uppercase"

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks

Craig
I want to know that too. My friends just asked me why do I keep putting You in uppercase.

flip shot screen

I am having an issue with my Flip shot where the raised part of the keypad is leaving scratches on the inner screen, its like you can see all the buttons engraved into the inner screen. just wondering if anyone else has noticed this issue. Talked with someone in tech support and they had never heard of this issue before, just wondering what this might be from.

50 Text Messages Max?

I remember on the A990 the max number of text messages you could save that were SENT was 50. The inbox was about 30-50 also. Except in the case where you receive picture message, in which I went far above 100. I texted myself to see the limit but of course I had the unlimited Verizon In texting plan.

And even though I doubt anyone has texted that much with this phone, does anyone know the limit for texts? Both for sending and receiving. Thanks in advance.
I have recieved 78 right now!! and 46 Sent.I'm thinking its about 100. I have like 20 Flix messages

downgrade?

everywhere i look i read that this has a 3mp camera but as far as i remember the a990 had a 3.2mp shooter. Am i missing something?
I think so. Maybe less of a downgrade and more of a, "Hey, we re-released the same phone but it's cheaper!" kind of move. I have the a990 and the literature says 3.2MP. I think Samsung has a 5.0MP cam-phone that they're working with VZW on now. Ma...

photos saved with wrong time

The time on my flipshot screen is correct for my timezone, but when I import my photos into iPhoto, the time assigned to them is four hours later than when the photo was actually taken. This is a problem if I have also used my digital camera at the same event since the flipshot photos all show up four hours later and not in order with the others. Is there a place where I can assign the correct time zone or something so the photos are saved with the correct time?

Getting One fron Verizon

Looks like I lucked out i bet. I was on my 3rd replacement of my u470 (Juke). Tech support erroneously promised me a FlipShot and could not back out because the rep thought it was bad business to offer something to a customer and not follow through. I am getting the black model. What do you think by comparison?

Incoming calls go straight to voicemail????

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have my U900 in my case hanging on my belt (it's a horizontal case with magnet clasp). It rings, and I reach down to answer it and as soon as I touch the phone, the call goes straight to voicemail. I believe this has something to do with the magnet clasp on the case because if the phone isn't in the case, it works fine. I'm trying to figure out if this is a design flaw or if I just have a defective phone. I called Verizon and they said they haven't heard about this problem before.
I have had the EXACT same problem. At first I thought that i was just screwing up somehow but now I agree with it probably being the magnet's fault somehow. It sucks too cause I really like the "mini fanny pack" looking case... even if it makes me kin...

Focus Issues

I've had the Flip Shot for about a week now and I'm having an issue with the auto focus. It seems to be stuck or not functioning. I know it's not just shaky hands or cell phone camera quality because I've seen sample pictures on-line that look great. The pictures I tried taking were outside on a sunny day and there is no "ghosting" indicating the camera or object is being moved, it is just out of focus. On the other hand, objects about a foot away are bright and clear (I took a picture of a wine glass on a table cloth and you can count the stitches in the weave of the fabric)

I've checked all the options, tried them every which way, reset all the options... I finally called Verizon and they recommended a hard boot (pull out the battery wh...
