Google to Shutter Picasa In Favor of Google Photos

I hope that they reconsider abandoning the Picasa app, which I still very much use on my desktop to upload to Google Photos and Facebook since like to organize albums with captions before uploading. Also, they really need to make a public URL to your public albums that I can share, like I can in Picasa, perhaps that isn't really messy if they really want to replace Picasa and compete as a dedicated Photos service.
