Upgrade your Pantech Duo!

OK, I just updated the OS on my Pantech Duo from Windows Mobile 6.0 to Windows Mobile 6.1 and it introduced some great new features! The "Threaded Text Messaging" made the upgrade 100% worth it! Below is a clip from Pantech's website...

"Among the list of exciting upgrades to the user experience for both business and consumer customers, Pantech duo owners now enjoy a more efficient use of key phone features. Improvements include:

* Customizable Home Screen: Sliding panels streamline access to frequently-used phone features, allowing for picture and video viewing, listening to music, and coordinating calendar appointments

* Threaded Text Messaging: SMS text messages are threaded together into a single conversation, so...

Has anyone had problems with the keyboard? We just purchased a used one for our daughter and the keyboard is hard to text on. You have to push the keys kinda hard to text.

Create your own Ringtones!

Since this phone has bluetooth, you can send ringtones from your computer to your phone without having to pay anything extra. If your computer does not have bluetooth, you can buy a bluetooth dongle (which will give your pc bluetooth capabilities) for pretty cheap (around $8.00). The nice thing about that is you'll then be able to use it with any bluetooth enabled phone you get as well.

As for the file size, the Duo requires the ringtone to be LESS THAN 300kb AND LESS THAN 30 seconds, otherwise it won't work for a ringtone.

I created a webpage with directions for creating a MP3 ringtone, hope this can help someone!

Ringtones?

How to you assign a ringtone to someone that you sync'd off your computer? The only ringtones it allows you to pick are the ones that are already in the phone.. I can't find any information on this!
You can put a 30 second mp3 clip into your "sounds" folder via active sync. Just use any free conversion software online to cut the mp3 down to a file under 300K.
you can add ringtone by when you have your phone plug into you pc. Pull up windows explorers with in one of the files you will see Ringtones. Just drag and drop your ringtones into that folder.

Once that is done go to the person that you want tha...

GPS ?

On the AT&T website it states that this phone includes, "Telenav Maps and Navigator(TM) support"

So does that mean its GPS enabled??

Def interested in buying this but need to know if it comes with GPS thanks for the help!!
Yes it needs the Telenav GPS puck to actually receive directions. You have access to the maps standard on the phone.

Pantech Duo "Retrieve" function

Why is it that when viewing a message with an attachment (picture) in my inbox and using the "retrieve" function, the following message is displayed and any attempts at pressing the retrieve button return the error "1 of 1 messages could not be downloaded. Message delivery failed. Try again?" after it attempts to do a download (but fails every time). I don't have the 'internet' function subscribed to on this phone but shouldn't need to for this function (and didn't on previous phones). Can someone shed some light on this issue?

Thanks,
Alysha

Pantech Duo - Working with camera pictures

Hello,

I think I have a full phone memory and can't find where to delete pictures (or better yet, transfer them to my inserted memory card).

Also, isn't there a setup setting that allows pictures to automatically store to the memory card vs the phone?

Thanks for any help,
Alysha

Want to make your smartphone smarter?

OK, I've had this phone for about a week and I've come to absolutely love it. At first, I really liked it, but after finding a few programs that allow you to FULLY customize it, I now LOVE it!

"SmartToolkit" adds some sweet functions to your device, as well as a beautiful, Windows interface (you can even set it to look like Windows Vista). Basically, this makes it extremely easy for anyone who is used to Windows to navigate their way around the Pantech Duo. The Start button will now open an overlay window, similar to one found in Windows XP or Vista. Be sure to read the directions to learn how to customize it, but it's AWESOME and can be downloaded from:

dust problem with phone

Does anyone have problems with an accumulation of dust under the glass screen. I bought 3 of these phones and 2 of them have a lot of dust under the glass and there does not seem anyway to clean it out. Any suggestions?
It's covered under the warranty, it's a known issue, exchange it.

MicroSD Card

Has anyone tried the new MicroSD cards that are bigger than 2 gigs in their phone? I found a great deal on a 4gig MicroSD High Capacity card, but I dont want to buy it if it wont work in the phone.
Wanted to add that that I tried emailing the company to ask but no response yet. 😕
Very few phones will actually support over a 2GB card. I'm not sure about this one but I will try to find out and let you know. 🙂

Keypad lock?

Im interested in getting this phone, it looks great. My only question is does it have a keypad lock? I mean a real one? I have a slider phone right now and it is "locked" when you slide it down but it "unlocks" as soon as you slide it up--come on! Im wondering if this one does the same thing..or if it actually has a lock that you have to key in a code to unlock. Looking for something that my little ones cant get into if they get ahold of it. Thanks!
No, you lock it manually. To unlock it you hit the left soft key and open the phone to hit the * key.

Micro-SD Card

Well, I just got this phone yesterday and I LOVE it. I have an old micro SD card from my old phone(1GB), but when I try to put it in, it doesn't fit! I believe that I am putting it in the right way(I tried all 4 ways) and it still won't go in.

Any help?

Sending/receiving pictures

I can send pictures, but I can't receive any. I don't have the $30/month charge for unlimited internet/email access. When I called Tech Support they said I had to have the internet/email capability to send/receive pictures. So why can I still send them without it? They couldn't explain it. It seems like there should be a way I can receive them also without the $30/month charge...
