I ALWAYS put my phone in a case to protect it. Once its in an Otterbox or something similar you can't tell if its plastic or leather (or if its plastic or a metal/glass phone for that matter really). So one could argue as well that unless you were't going to use a case at all there's no point to paying extra for leather (that's going to be hidden inside the case).

I feel while the point is valiant, it fails to embrace an encompassing user experience. It is easy to make a point of metal vs plastic for marketing and sales. However, service after the sale is often ignored by these sites. What good is a metal device if it is rendered useless due to not being easily serviced? This is premium? Frankly, the editors don't give a damn because when is the last time they had to deal with service centers for battery issues and broken ports? They don't hold onto a phone long enough to worry about longevity issues that are inherent to full term contracts.

Eric is my go-to reviewer. The only key element missing from his reviews is a statement about whether the phone being reviewed supports the Apt-X codec.
