Let's not forget

Sprint has already signed exclusivity agreements with the four major cable companies to allow for easily integrated servives. Once rolled out sprint should be able offer far more on a stronger EVDO network, and given Verizon's EVDO history they may still be beat to the punch by Sprint.

EV-DO ???

Yeah, great, now all they need to do is launch EV-DO in the areas they said it would be up in 6 months ago, like Nashville hint hint!
I was visiting Nashville, TN over Thanksgiving week and i was shocked to find out that they did not have EVDO there. That's a big city!

I really wanted to check my daily colbert report from my phone.

Still not as good as sprint's EVDO network

Sprint's EVDO network is much better and faster than verizon's EVDO network. Sprint operates off of the PCS frequency (1900 mhz), which means that you need more towers to create a solid signal since the farther from the tower you are, the slower the EVDO speeds are. Verizon operates on 850 mhz, which means it's automatically not going to have the same speeds as sprint. Sprint's is faster, better, and their powervision phones are better too! At least the samsung a-940 isn't crippled like verizon's a970! However, when it comes down to it, at least it's not GSM!!!! Edge sucjks
Actually I don' like the 1900 MHz freq dat Sprint uses. It definitely has much worse building penetration than the 850 MHz band that some other carriers use.

All else bein' equal, lower freqs = better reception indoors. 🙂
lol...yah but verizon has 3x as many cell cites that offer EVDO, plus once the mediaFLOW comes out it will free up mounds of space on their EVDO network since vcast wont be on there :-p

MediaFLOW does not use EVDO technology, it is a different frequency.

This is actually great news for EVDO users, since it will remove Vcast, which does use EVDO, off the EVDO network and that will free up TONS of bandwidth for users that need it.

Are you an idiot??? The headline of the article is Verizon To Offer TV Together With EV-DO. And the article states that they will be using the EVDO technology for this multimedia offering. It just won't be in the traditional band!!!!

Wow, this...

😁 😁

I wonder if you can use this on any EVDO phone, or would you have to buy one that is capable when it comes out?
My guess would be that a new handset would be required since Qualcomm is going to use the 700mhz band and Verizon's phones carry chips for 850/1900 and analog. It would be nice if VZ started launching phones with those chips now/soon so customer's don...
you would have to buy a new phone.

Nice! Wonder what shows they're gonna have..

Real-time mobile TV.. daddy likes. 🙂

I jus' hope it has some good shows, including cable ones (which're generally better). My Top 5 would be:

Grey's Anatomy
Battlestar Galactica
Monday Night Football

Hope it's got good content.. if so it'll be sweeeet.
My guess is the cable channels would be like abc, nbc, any fox channel, mtv, cbs, espn, cnn, and the weather channel to start off.
In infomanager the picture of the razr they have up has a "Lost" background on it. I realize it has nothing to do with this new technology, but cool anyway
