Any cases (leather) for the 8700

Anyone seen any cases for this unit? I have a 7290 and the corresponding leather holster with the "blackberry" tag on the front. Will this fit in that same case?
Most likely not... its smaller than the 7290. Not by a ton, but just enough where you wouldnt like your case w/it.
...
U kidding? They're are tons on a certain online auction site...

Moisture indicator

Where is the moisture indicator for this phone? What does it look like? Thank you.
Lateralus55,

There is a moisture indicator located on the back of the phone. Take off the back cover and look toward the bottom left corner of your phone. You should see a white square (pink if there is water damage). There is also an indicator ...

GPS

What nav software and bluetooth GPS devices are best with this phone? Or is there an option? Most of the products seem to be for Palm or PocketPC.
I just ordered Telenav, has anyone tried?

MMS Question

From what I understand, this phone does not allow MMS messages to be received on the AT&T network. Where does the message go? Does AT&T have a picture messaging service similar to Verizon?

Bookmarks

Is there a way to backup my bookmarks (tMobile 8700g) to either the SIM card or my Mac? If so, how?

Using PocketMac I have no issue syncing my address book, calendar, etc., with my Mac, but I am uncertain as to how to do the bookmarks. As I have a lot of them and anticipate getting a new Blackberry soon, I would really prefer to not have to manually do this.

Thanks, Scott

Blackberry 8700 Email

I have my gmail account set up on my 8700 and every time I send an email either from my 8700 or from my actual Gmail on my desktop I receive the email as a new message kind of like I am copied on every email that I send. I have gone through all the settings and I am not set up to be copied on any emails yet I still receive every email that is sent. Does anyone know how to have this changed.
i had that issue with the phone when i had it...i know i had to make a filter that said "blackberry sent" on my gmail account so that i would not get repeat emails that i had sent. after you set up the filter, reset the 8700 and you should be straigh...

Vibrate?

I've had the 8700c for awhile now and love it. The one thing that I cannot figure out though is to be able to put the phone on vibrate mode? Does it have one and if so where can I find it? Thanks
Click on "profile" and if you want just "vibrate" select "enable".
If you want to change the rest. Select "Normal" click the track wheel and click on "edit". Select what you want to change, select "edit".
Select "save".
There maybe a shorter way bu...

8700g microphone issues

I am on my second 8700g with T-Mobile due to excessive background noise. Despite the solid phone reception, superior speaker phone and earpiece speaker, the extreme sensivity of the microphone is a deal-breaking problem it seems very few people are talking about. It was not even in T-Mobile's notes! So, I am giving it another try. I am not a hardwire earpiece kinda guy and don't want to pop for the BT headset. I am primarily a phone user who likes to get emails on the go and browse the web once in a while...new to Blackberry devices.
I see the same thing on my Cingular 8700c. I also tested a 8703e at Verizon, and the same thing. BB needs to tune their microphone software or something. It is embarassing when people ask if I'm on some sort of $5 piece of crap phone trying to run a b...

Battery Life ?

4 months old - stays "off" and holstered in my briefcase and use it only for an hour or so every few weeks. I give it a full charge (until all battery bars fill up), use it for an hour (about 15 minutes of data exchange), turn off for a few days, use it again for an hour, put it away, go to use it about 10 days later and it's dead. Won't even turn on. Need to hook-up the AC charger. Same pattern every time. (I had it set to "off" when holstered.) Any idea folks? Am I doing something wrong given spec 16 days standby? Did leaving it in the car during 100 degree days ruin the battery? Is this a warranty issue? Thanks for advice.
There's a few things that can be said about this issue. If left off and tuned on for an hour or a few days a week the battery life sounds about right. As far a leaving your phone in the car while it was 100 degrees outside depends on how long it was...

Consider a Nokia E61 instead of the 8700

I almost bought a 8700, but after reading the reviews you can get BB service on the Nokia E61. It is not yet avaiable in the US market but you can get it on ebay for $350 vs $300 for a BB 8700 w 2 year contract. I am using it with Tmobile in Chicago and I know other people are using it on Cingular. Check out the reviews here on Phonescoop and other sites. I have this device and love it! Voice and speaker quality is great and the interface is nice. You can see upcoming events in your calender on the welcome screen unlike the BB 8700. Check it out your missing out on todays technology for $350 and buying last years technology for $300 in a BB 8700.
still digging that E61? wondering because most complain about it and end up going on with an 8700. The E61 is definitely a sharp PDA, but I didn't like the keyboard very much. Beautiful screen too!

T-Mobile vs. Cingular?

Which is better for Blackberry? I know there are minor differences like the YIM client can't be used on cingular and I heard a rumor that MMS doesn't work. Also that T-Mobile customer support is kind of lacking. Any other problems or issues? Or any downsides for a BB on T-mobile? Please share.

Thanks in advance,
Vince
I started with Cingular and then unlocked my 8700 and switched to T-Mobile.

Cingular had slightly better signal strength but since I live in a major metropolitan area, that didn't matter much because T-Mobile has towers all over here (southern Cali...

8700 On verizon

Does anybody have a good guess at when 8700 would launch on Verizon? I am awaiting (growing) old the Motorola Q or the 8700.

The Q has a lot of features I would like (minisd, wifisd ?, win mob 5, ). However I am steadfast to the reliability of the blackberry.

For me it is not just the device and the features. It is the thought that goes into the software and ease of use. For example when I make a new contact on the BB and fill in the email address. While in an email field if I hit the space bar it places the @ symbol in, if I hit the space bar the second time it places the . (dot) in the field.

This type of short cut is one of many smart things that are built into the blackberry software. Also if you hold any key down for a short ti...

hotmail on Blackberry

does anyone on here know if its possible to use your Blackberry and its push email to get your hotmail instead of just going to hotmail.com. any info would be nice.thinking of getting the 8700 on T-mobile and use my hotmail more than anything and would be great.
I'm currently testing a BB with cingular and hotmail forwarding to the device works like a charm. Haven't setup multiple accounts yet (corp, yahoo, gmail, etc), but hotmail is no prob.

switching from Verizon?

I am currently using a Blackberry 7250 with Verizon, but I am thinking of switching to a Blackberry 8700, so I would have to switch service to T-Mobile or Cingular. I am not sure if this is worth the hassle or not.

1. Any comparisons of service, coverage, dropped calls, sound quality between Verizon, T-Mobile, and Cingular?
2. With my current setup, I have a special Blackberry e-mail, and I can forward copies of my personal e-mail to this Blackberry e-mail address (the alternative of having the Blackberry poll my pop server seemed lame by comparison). Can I do the same thing with Cingular or T-Mobile, and does it work as well? Will I have to switch my Blackberry e-mail address?
3. Any information on when the Blackberry 8700 is coming...
