And here I was thinking

That one of the big Appeals to iOS was their superior messaging service. Because after all, Apple's stuff just works and they always own up to their problems and promptly fix known issues.
This isn't an issue. All the people who left the iPhone for another type of phone will be back within 14 days to the iPhone. Come on now.

The problem is real

Both Rich and I have suffered from this phenomenon. It doesn't help that we both swap our SIMs out to new devices on a fairly regular basis. It took me months to resolve the issue last year. I get most of my messages now, but still lose some to iMessage every once in a while.
When moving over to Android from an IOS device, people have problems getting text messages too. Is this one of the problems they are referring to?

Sounds like what happened when my wife went from an iPhone to Android. This only affects those contacts who have iPhones. She could text them from her new phone, but their texts to her would get lost. That's because the iPhone contacts would automa...

This is a huge problem that I have been contacting Apple about for a year. I swap SIM cards, I've switched through the carrier and I constantly have the problem. Unless of course I'm using an iPhone.
A simple (but not complete solution) would be to ...

It is intentional...

They have known about this "issue" for a long time, hundreds and hundreds of posts on their "support" site but even many of their own support people don't know the simple resolution.

The fact they didn't disseminate the solution to their own reps shows it was intentional, "maybe you should go back to an iphone" being a phrase Ive heard more than once as a "resolution". It has an easy fix, both on the device or numerous ways on the apple server side but apple being apple, we better pretend its a very complex issue and took us all these years to fix.

That's why we ignored all your complaints about it for years on our "support" site.

Oh thanks Apple, you guys are great.
Call me a tech geek but if you are updrading to a different device then you woul dnaturally wipe the iphone and turen the iMessaging (off) before you switched. Thats what I did and I never had any problems.

This bug CANNOT BE FIXED PEOPLE

C'mon you phone-o-philes think this through! I don't care if Apple seeks out a computer programmer with the professionalism to create solid code, iMessage is a feature that cannot work because it requires Apple to be provided with information it cannot get. iMessage is an Instant Messaging system masquerading as the phone text messaging system and that is why it is plagued with bugs.

This is the unsolvable problem Apple faces with the fundamentally flawed feature known as iMessage:

Q. You have an iPhone 4s. Someone sends you an iMessage and it does not go through. Why did it fail?

A. ,,,uh,,,

Maybe your phone temporarily lost data access. Maybe your battery died. Maybe you upgraded to a new phone. All of those situations...

Agreed....the real question here is who the hell does Apple think they are to create an app that interferes with a person's features that they set up with the mobile carrier? Apple has no business doing this, What Apple is doing is giving an intrusi...
