Limitations of sight

I think displays are hitting a point where very soon, the display resolution will be way beyond the capabilities of human vision. After this, the next logical step would be to again divide each pixel into 4, and that would definitely be way beyond what the eye can see (if we're not already there with this technology!)

We're pretty much there already. I can barely see the difference in pixel density of my Nexus 2012 and 2013. Even though it has a higher resolution display and higher pixel density, I'm hard pressed to see a night and day difference. At normal viewing distanced of 12 I inches or so all looks good to me. Apple started this pixel density craze and now every other manufactorer has taken the ball and ran with it. After 323 pixel per inch or so your brain can't and won't process any further resolution on the screen. And that's why apple came up with the whole Retina Display BS.

Looks like the next display for an iphone 6. LG makes the retina displays now so it seems only natural that this will be the next one.

Sounds about right. I guess thats the best Apple can do since their phones are very limited with the software capabilities.

I sure do hope they make a change before the predictions made a couple years ago about Android and Windows 8 come true. 😛

There is a huge difference between 1080p and 720p. A lot more crispness.
