Pretty much meaningless.
Get an iPhone5 for 199.99 on a Verison line, move the phone to an ATT line, you are still under contract to Verison and must pay the monthly bill as if the device was active...

I mean iPhone's are pretty well untouched by carriers. Although mine was from ATT. The box was shrink wrapped and there was an ATT SIM already installed.
