Well I just ordered my 32gb Galaxy S3 at 2:20am last night. (they weren't ready at midnight even though the said it would be available online on July 1st. They begged off that claim by saying the meant PST)
Anyway.... is there reason to be hopefull that 4.1 will come to the GS3 any time soon?

Depends largely on what carrier you're on. If you've got an international device, You'll probably see an update Aug/Sep. Later than the Nexus devices, but still pretty quick. AT&T/Sprint/TMo will likely have the update by the end of the year. Who ...

Once a map is downloaded where do you find it on the phone?
I downloaded an area of the map of where I live.
I went to the Astro file manager, clicked on the folder called Download, anyway, I can figure out where the downloaded map is!

You're referring to offline Maps?
You access it from within the Maps app.
It's not a picture file of a map. It's all of the data that Maps would need to make Maps work, including streets, addresses, landmarks, etc.
