So they're really. . .

So they're really eliminating 350 jobs.
Minusing 900, but creating 550, is really only minusing 350 jobs.
I would assume those 550 created will be different positions filled by different people than the extra 550 they're letting go. In a general arithmetic sense you are correct, though.

Either way, still MUCH better than the 'T-Mobile is axing 1000 jo...

There's probably more to it than that. Without knowing what jobs are being cut and what jobs are being added, you can't really compare.

It could be that they're cutting 900 well paying jobs and hiring 550 minimum wage positions. There's also the ...

Smoke and Mirrors

Most likely 500 much lesser paying jobs. So, the people who will be loosing their jobs, most likely will not be able to live off the income of the current jobs. If you read in between the lines, no front line employees or techs are loosing their jobs. Which leads me to believe that mid to upper management will be ass out.

This is much like the smoke and mirror act of their recent commercial, as cool as it is, I give them an A+ for creativity.
The iPhone 4GS running much faster on their 4G network than it runs on AT&T's network. Truth is, the iPhone 4GS doesn't even have LTE and doesn't run on At&t's LTE but, their advanced 3G UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA850/900/1900/2100 MHz network.

Or, is that another play on words, too. Are they talking about ...
