Holy Snap...
I figured there would be settlements...but to possibly completely cease importing a bread and butter product to the US could very severely damage Apple...bet their investors aren't going to be happy about this!
Also...what does this mean for previous devices already activated and in a customer's hands that is violating this patent? Will they have to be replaced by Apple?!
...
I doubt if anything already in consumer's hands would need to be replaced, but this is sweet. Apple getting a taste of their own medicine. Perhaps they'll reconsider their Sue-happy strategy.

I agree...this could very well change the smartphone industry for awhile!

I don't think that Google/Motorola actually want to force Apple's products off the market....I think the goal is to force Apple to back off...basically saying 'hey Apple, want us to back off and let you sell your products? Drop you lawsuits against Android and we'll talk.'
...
Exactly. It wouldn't necessarily behoove Motorola to not take the settlement if it got to that point. It would paint Motorola as the bad guy and you had better believe Apple would go to war with their patents. This is just a battle.
