Doro Jumps On the Android Bandwagon with PhoneEasy 740
Doro today announced its first Android smartphone, the PhoneEasy 740. The 740 is a slider that includes a touch screen and a "large, well-spaced keyboard" for easy typing. Doro provided few details about the phone, but said it will launch this summer. In conjunction with the PhoneEasy 740, Doro also announced its own Android skin for making the user interface as easy as possible to use for its senior citizen customers. The skin offers enlarged controls, PC-based set-up tools, and can also help recommend applications to download from the Android Market. Doro is also going to license the skin, called the Doro Experience, to other hardware makers.
Doro has long made a name for itself as a purveyor of simple phones for older folks. Their latest entry is a super-basic, old-school flip phone with classic, easy-to-use design, Doro's special easy interface, and unique software powering it.
