Opera Scoops Up Mobile Theory and 4th Screen

Opera Software today announced that it has acquired Mobile Theory and 4th Screen Advertising. Both companies are advertising firms and will help Opera offer a broader range of advertising products for its Opera Mobile and Opera Mini browsers. It will also help Opera better monetize the traffic that is generated by its browsers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

What are the implications for this?

I love Opera. Does this mean that I will have more advertisements on my browser, and marketers recording my history to target me with ads? Hopefully it means that Opera will be able to add more features to their products, but I am always worried about what the trade off will be. I have a feeling that it is privacy 😢
