Google Maps Update Improves Battery Life

Google has updated Google Maps for Android and the new version makes strides in power requirements. Latitude users should see better battery life and faster refreshes for locations. It also adds the ability to guess location based on vehicle speed of the GPS signal is lost. It now also offers more public transportation route options. The update is free.

Vehicle speed.. Sure would be cool to have that in Maps..

Speaking of vehicle speed, I'm baffled that Google Maps doesn't show current speed on the screen like every other navigation program does. :-/ Wonder why?

It's not meant to retrieve a location from cratch, but to maintain a location when GPS is lost. If I'm travelling down the intersta...
