Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac Gains Features

Microsoft recently provided an update to its Windows Phone 7 Connector application for Apple computers. Version 2.01 now includes new features such as syncing with Apple's Aperture program; file drag-and-drop; ringtone transfers; better video conversion; and new support for WP7.5 Marketplace. The new desktop software makes a number of improvements to back-up and restore, podcast syncing and photo imports, iTunes support, and metadata support for videos. The update also fixes bugs. It is a free download from the Apple App Store.

Microsoft today rolled out a promotion that gives anyone who purchases a new Windows Phone 7 device a $25 gift card that can be used to purchase applications from the Microsoft Marketplace. Microsoft didn't say how long the promo will last.

AT&T today announced via its Facebook page that it will begin offering the HTC Titan Windows Phone Mango device starting November 20 for $199.99 with a new agreement.

ST-Ericsson today announced that it has won a deal to supply wireless chips to Nokia for the Finnish phone maker's future Windows Phone smartphones. To-date, all Windows Phone devices have included chips from Qualcomm.

Microsoft believes that by next year, the cost to produce Windows Phone smartphones will be half what it cost when the platform launched in 2010. Microsoft has cut new deals with component makers, such as Qualcomm, in order to drive down the cost to manufacture handsets.
