700MHz Auction Nets $19 Million

The Federal Communications Commission today announced the winners of Auction 92, which was for 16 different licenses in the 700MHz range of spectrum. The auction brought in a total of $19.7 million from a handful of winners, which include U.S. Cellular, CenturyTel Broadband Wireless, Big Wave Ventures, Puerto Rico Telephone Company, and others. Six of the license were for blocks located in Puerto Rico. The other 10 included areas of North Carolina, North Dakota, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. Winners have to make a 20% deposit by August 11.
