RIM Extends BES Device Management to iOS and Android

Research In Motion today announced that it will offer many of the same enterprise device management features available to its BlackBerry smartphones to devices running Apple's iOS and Google's Android platforms. The multi-platform BlackBerry Enterprise Solution, which is being supported by RIM's acquisition of ubitexx, will let businesses manage BlackBerries, iPhones, and Android handsets using the same system. It will take advantage of the security features built into iOS and Android to offer the same level of control over remote locking, data wiping, and retrieving lost/stolen devices. The new version of BES software that includes the multi-platform BlackBerry Enterprise Solution will become available to businesses later this year.

Hmmmmm....

This should hasten RIM's demise as a mobile device manufacturer quite nicely.
This will put them head to head with Microsoft exchange now. First, they make a good bit of money from their enterprise servers, which they can use in other areas. Second, the one advantage microsoft exchange always had was it would work across platfo...
