Verizon Wireless and its partner Asurion are offering open enrollment in the Total Equipment Coverage plan. Open enrollment means that even if customers are past the initial 30-day ownership period with their device, they may still sign up for the insurance coverage. The plan covers loss, theft, damage (including water damage), and mechanical or electrical defects after the manufacturer's warranty expires; replacement device as soon as the next day; and Mobile Recovery (on compatible phones) to locate and secure a lost/stolen phone. The monthly cost to users depends on the device insured. Open enrollment closes April 28.
