RIM Intros BBM Mobile Gifting Platform

Research In Motion today announced the BBM Mobile Gifting Platform for network operators. The Gifting Platform will let a BlackBerry subscriber use their account to approve and pay for airtime, apps or other carrier services requested by another BlackBerry subscriber. The system integrates with BlackBerry App World and RIM's BlackBerry Messenger service. BlackBerry users will be notified via BBM when a transaction has been requested and can then approve of that transaction from within BBM. RIM envisions that this system will be useful in situations such as helping parents control the spending of their children by managing App World purchases.
