Cricket Wireless today announced a new voice plan that includes unlimited music downloads from its new music service for $55 per month. The Muve Music Plan includes unlimited calling, messaging, mobile data, streaming video and unlimited full track downloads, ringtones, and ringback tones. The music service will offer millions of songs from Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and EMI Music. Compatible handsets will have access to Muve Music from a physical button on the phone, which allows users to download DRM-free music over-the-air straight to their phone, where it is stored on a specially designed SanDisk microSD card. While the songs don't have DRM, the song files (which are not MP3s) are stored in an encrypted partition on the microSD card. They cannot be moved to a PC or any other device. They are only playable on the handset. The service will work with only one handset at launch, the Samsung r710 Suede. The service and Suede launch in January 2011.
