Google today announced a new version of Google Voice for the iPhone and, for the first time, the iPod Touch and iPad. The new version provides iPod Touch and iPad users with most of the functionality that the iPhone version offers, omitting only the ability to place cellular voice calls. iPod Touch and iPad users will be able to send SMS messages from their device, as well as access their Google Voice messages and account controls. The iPod Touch and iPad version also supports a new feature that allows users to initiate a call from their iPod Touch or iPad and then transfer it to the iPhone. Google calls this feature Click2Call. Other improvements across all iOS devices include reduced duplication of push notifications, straight-to-voicemail support, and faster calling and text message composition. The application is a free download from the App Store.
