AT&T Wireless Releases Microsoft Smartphone

AT&T Wireless and Motorola today announced the availability of the Motorola MPx200, the first Windows Mobile-based Smartphone to reach commerical availability for the North American market. The phone is available for a price of $299.99 with any compatible AT&T Wireless service plan.

Microsoft today announced several new mobile initiatives that pair its own Windows platform with Android and iOS devices. First is a new tool, tentatively called Your Phone, that connects Android and iOS devices with a Windows 10 PC in order to access text messages, photos, and notifications.

Microsoft today made a beta version of its Edge browser available to Android and iOS devices. The beta, available to registered Windows Insiders, requires users to initiate the signup process through a Windows 10 PC.

Motorola today announced the Motorola One and Motorola One Power, two inexpensive phones that run the Android One platform. Motorola says these phones will be among the first to be updated to Android 9 Pie, and will receive security/feature updates for three years.

Microsoft today said that it will soon cease accepting new apps for Windows Phone 8.x or 8/8.1. Microsoft will stop taking in new Windows Phone 8.x and 8/8.1 apps on October 31 of this year.

OnePlus has sold through its supply of OnePlus 5T handsets in North America and will not replenish its stores, reports Engadget. Kyle Kiang, head of global marketing and general manager of North America at OnePlus, said the 5T met stronger-than-expented demand in the U.S.
