T-Mobile Extends HSPA+ to 8 New Markets
T-Mobile today announced another expansion of its HSPA+ footprint. The new markets include Detroit, Mich.; Grand Junction, Colo.; Harlingen, Texas; Lafayette and South Bend, Ind.; Montgomery, Ala.; Roanoke-Lynchburg, Va. and Youngstown, Ohio. T-Mobile says it now covers some 80 metropolitan regions across the U.S. with HSPA+. T-Mobile is still on track to reach 200 million POPs by the end of the year.

Sprint today launched 5G service in four new cities, and launched one new 5G phone: The OnePlus 7 Pro 5G, available starting today. In New York City, 5G covers 1.7 million people, and parts of Manhattan from Central Park to the southern tip.

Americans traveling to South Korea to attend the 2018 Winter Olympic Games will be able to roam for free if they subscribe to T-Mobile or Verizon Wireless. T-Mobile says its customers can take advantage of free unlimited high-speed data, unlimited calls within South Korea and back to the U.S., as well as free texting while attending the games.

AT&T today launched sub-6 GHz 5G in 22 new markets, bringing the company's total sub-6 5G coverage to 80 markets in the US. Sub-6 5G uses lower frequency bands than mmWave 5G, allowing sub-6 5G to offer broader coverage.
