Verizon Wireless today confirmed that it is pushing a software update out to the Motorola Droid 2 Android device. The update does not advance the core Android 2.2 system, but does offer a number of improvements. Verizon notes that users should see improved battery life, better proximity sensor behavior, faster GPS tracking, faster transitions between Wi-Fi and 3G networks, and support for chronological text messages. Users will be notified when the update is available for their device.
