Interesting

Could this be a sign? Could we see a change in tides here? Just keeps you wondering if the rumors (which they are at this time) will come true that VZW will start carrying the IPhone. Hmm interesting.
How did i know this garbage would start popping up again.
this is quite interesting. I wonder if Apple is doing this in anticipation of the Samsung Tab which should be released next month. As far as Verizon carrying the iphone, i recently read an interview with Verizon's CEO and he said that we won't be expe...

Sure they'll start carrying it. Just not anytime soon. The rumors of a 5-year deal with AT&T and with production starting up on CMDA versions are probably true, but it will probably be more like 2012. Bundling the iPad with a MiFi is a good way to ...

Pjhauser said it perfectly. There will be no iPhone! But a chance for verizon customers to look at apple, and see what it is all about.

Why would I want a MiFi in a tablet?

MiFi is for connecting your wireless devices to the internet right? Let's see, I won't be caring a laptop around because I have my tablet, I won't have/need an iTouch because I have a tablet. The list goes on, and other then maybe connecting 2 tablets to each other to transfer info or for gaming (I wonder if that would count as data on a cell tower), I really don't see the point in wanting to carry and connect another device to the internet.
How else would you connect a data card to the IPad? By USB? Good luck on finding one of those on the IPad. The only way is to connect the IPad to a WiFi connection hince the reason for the bundling of the MiFi.

The MIFI is a seperate device it's NOT in the Ipad.

Suck.

Now we have some decent choices for a few different groups of people;

$25.00 for 2gigs, supported natively by the iPad, unable to be shared with any other devices, NO-CONTRACT.

$60.00 for 5gigs, can be used with other devices, need to carry both the Mi-Fi and the iPad with you at all times, locked into a 24 month contract

With or without contract NO ONE is subsidizing this product.
There is NO contract with the Verizon Ipad and you have the choice of 3 different plans. Research before you type.

Some math, if you're interested

iPad Wi-Fi w/MiFi bundle costs $630, $730, and $830, right?

That also comes with a monthly $20 data plan for 1GB per month.

Let's pretend you keep said package/service for two years.

That's $630 + (24 x $20) = $1110.

OR

iPad directly from Apple = $500.

MiFi is FREE with a new contract, but requires either $40/mo for 250MB or $60/mo for 5GB.

That's $500 + (24 x $40) = $1460; or
That's $500 + (24 x $60) = $1940.

Obviously, the prices go up for both examples if you choose a higher capacity iPad.

Verizon's $20 for 1GB is actually a pretty good deal when compared to $15 for 250MB or $25 for 2GB from AT&T, and the MiFi lets you use it with other Wi-Fi devices.

Just sayin'.
I didn't see in the article where Verizon was offering a 1gig plan for the MiFi device bundled with the iPad, I thought it was going to be the standard $60.00 5gig price.

It's going to be hard to use the MiFi with any other device AND the iPad wit...

Kinda cool...but...

It seems as if you have to carry around two devices on the Verizon side...but this may be the start of the Apple/Verizon BFFathon...
Yeah...releasing the iPad for VZW will probably give the industry a taste for potential sales if certain 'other' products are released.
...
Yes, but have you picked up a Verizon MiFi? They're tiny and weigh almost nothing. You can put it in a shirt pocket and not even feel it. It's one "extra device" that doesn't bother me at all to carry around, and I loath carrying any mor ...
