Mozilla has recently announced the availability of Firefox 4 beta for the Android platform and the Maemo platform. The browser offers syncing across mobile devices and desktops, the Awesome Bar, and add-ons to enrich the browsing experience. The newest version is a free download for both platforms.

I have a G1 with android 2.2 froyo...everytime FireFox tries to install it crashes and reboots my phone. its saved to sd card so idk ๐คจ
Still has potential
I downloaded and used it on my Droid Inc. It's definitely smoother than it was in Alpha stages. However, it still takes a while to load up and the pinch-to-zoom leaves a lot to be desired. PTZ doesn't feel very accurate or well rendered. For example, testing it on something as simple as Google.com proved to be difficult. Zooming in would not zoom into the area you pinched but around it. Rendering-wise, zooming made things pixelated rather than smoothed out like the native browser. Overall though...I look forward to the final iteration. ๐
I'll have to try this out. To me, Firefox on Maemo is still a bit slow but overall not a bad design. I wonder how this beta compares.
Tried it this morning on my DInc, and there's certainly potential. Of course as a beta there are issues, but once they're sorted out I can see this being a viable browser for sure!
