Today Broadpoint and T-Mobile USA announced that T-Mobile's customers can roam onto and use Broadpoint's GSM/EDGE voice and data network, which extends out over portions of the Gulf of Mexico. Voice service is available immediately, and data services will become available in the fall. Broadpoint covers about 100,000 square miles of the Gulf of Mexico. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cellular One. T-Mobile has not said if/what its customers will be charged on top of their normal bill to use Broadpoint's network when offshore.
