Sprint Promises WiMax for Major Markets in 2010

Today Sprint announced a handful of new markets where it will be rolling out its WiMax network during the course of 2010. The new markets include Boston, Denver, Kansas City, Houston, Minneapolis, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. Sprint already offers WiMax in 27 markets across the country, and plans to cover 120 million Americans by the end of 2010. Sprint indicated that more markets will gain WiMax later this year, but didn't name them. Sprint currently offers WiMax services through laptop dongles and its Overdrive mobile hotspot. Plans cost $60 and include 3G/4G access.

T-Mobile's Faster Mid-Band 5G Now Covers 140 Million People

As part of its quarterly earnings report today, T-Mobile provided an update on its 5G rollout and Sprint customer migration. The company's faster "Ultra Capacity" 5G network — the bulk of which relies on 2.5 GHz mid-band radio frequencies — now covers 140 million people and is on track to cover 200 million by the end of 2021.

Its currently the same price as 3g, $59.99 unlimited service while using 4g, 5GB cap when using 3G if you have a dual mode device.

Perhaps the amount of towers necessary to cover the L.A. Metro market could cover five slightly smaller (in population markets)? L.A is spread out AND has a lot of people. I think New York City has lots of people (of course) but one should not have ...

Waiting for the Sprint haters..

Pc World just ranked Sprint for the 2nd year to have the best 3G network (now all THIS 4G COVERAGE)

Any wonder why nobodys on commercial bashing Sprint?

So wheres all the people saying "ya but theres no 4G coverage blah blah blah" lol, 27 cities with FULL 4G coverage and now this.. things looking mighty good for Sprint 🙂

What about rural areas....

all i'm wondering is why not also put 4G in rural areas too especially when there people who live there arent allowed many or any choices next to satellite. or if you're passing thru and you're on a call or using data and now you have to wait until you come back to civilization. i live in detroit and when you go into the burbs there are huge service gaps.

They have it in several counties and cities here outside of baltimore. And some of these counties I would consider being highly rural considering all the farmland in certain counties.

these towers only cover a X amount of area and since rural area's only cover about 1 person per square mile its not...
