First Phone with Bluetooth 3.0 Approved

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group has approved the first consumer handset with the Bluetooth 3.0 specification on board. Bluetooth 3.0 was first announced in April 2009. Other Bluetooth 3.0 devices have been approved, but this is the first consumer phone. According to the Bluetooth SIG's description, the device in question is the Samsung S8500, which features a 3.1-inch, anti-reflective, outdoor-viewable, OLED touch screen with the TouchWiz user interface. The SIG also notes that it is slim, compact, will come in several colors, and also contains quad-band GSM/EDGE radios. The description of the S8500 was provided to the Bluetooth SIG by Samsung, and doesn't necessarily represent the final specs of the phone. The Federal Communications Commission also approved the S8500 later in the day, confirming in the process that it will have Wi-Fi.

Or does anyone else feel funny about a phone with the word Wiz in it?
