Google Maps Navigation Now Works On Android 1.6

Today Google announced that the Google Maps Navigation — the software if first provided only to devices running Android 2.0 — is available to devices running Android 1.6. Google Maps Navigation offers free turn-by-turn, voice-guided directions between two points. Google Maps Navigation for Android 1.6 also offers support for more layers. The new application is available for free in the Android Market to customers in the U.S.

Droid Eris

Does anyone know if this will work on the Droid Eris. I may be mistaken but I thought it was running Android 1.5.
I think you're right, although I couldn't confirm it by looking at my phone. The HTC website says it has cupcake, and a google search says cupcake is 1.5 and donut is 1.6.

I've heard HTC will provide 2.0 for the Eris at some point. Can anyone con...

Droid envy what

This is great news for tmobile. As this was a huge advantage for the droid. But now the mytouch and G1 can support this! I am much happier with my mytouch now.

the only reason i want a android phone is google gps navigation!
i almost cancel my preorder Acer Liquid since it running on android 1.6, not compatable with google gps.
now there is google gps for android 1.6, i cant wait to get my Acer Liquid!!
